The Korea University Graduate School of Clinical Dentistry was established in 2000 as the first
graduate school of clinical dentistry in Korea. It offers courses in essentially all academic disciplines
at graduate levels and provides research facilities for these disciplines. The school aims to provide its
students with opportunities for intellectual development as well as for the acquisition of professional
knowledge and skills. Different from other graduate school of dentistry, it offers the most
comprehensive education opportunities in the clinical dentistry and the most broadly based dental
research opportunities. We have focused on the training of the specialists and leaders able to apply
acquired knowledge in their clinics and to solve the clinical problems met by their patients. So we
have put emphasis on practical training, case presentation and discussion.
The Graduate School was opened with an enrollment of 34 students. The School is composed of the
following five departments: Orthodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Esthetic Restorative
Dentistry, Advanced Prosthodontics, and Oral & Maxillofacial Implantology. On August 30, 2002,
the Graduate School awarded its first Master¡¯s degrees to 32 graduates. It graduates approximately
40 qualified students each year who have successfully completed the two and a half year programs
(five semesters). |
