| Korea University,
one of the leading universities
in Korea in the Bio-Medical
Science field, has made great
achievements and produced
many professionals in such
areas as medical informatics
and instrumentation, bio-medical
science, life and food science,
and exercise science. The
Graduate School, which offers
a Master¡¯s degree program,
is comprised of the following
four departments: Department
of Medical Physics, Department
of Exercise Science, Department
of Medical Informatics and
Instrumentation, and the Department
of Life and Food Science.

|
1. The
admissions process takes place 30
days before the beginning of each
semester.
2. Students who are eligible for admission
must meet the following criteria as well
as pass the admission process of the Graduate
School:
(1) Students
who are graduates or expect
to graduate from a four-year
college.
(2) Students who have studied
more than 16 years abroad,
and have high school and college
diplomas from abroad.
(3) Students who have completed
an educational program, recognized
as being on a par with item
#1 by the Council of the Graduate
School. |

|
1. Students
are required to register for five semesters
of course work but there is no time limit
on when they need to complete their course
work. Students are required to earn a
total of 26 credits or more and they cannot
register for more than eight credits each
semester.
2. Courses are offered from 6:30 in the
evening until 9:40 at night.

|
| LEAVE OF ABSENCE AND WITHDRAWAL |
|
|
1. If a student
cannot fulfill more than one third of
the required course work due to illness
or circumstances beyond his/her control,
the student can take a leave of absence.
Before taking a leave of absence, students
must obtain the approval of the dean of
the Graduate School. Each time a student
files for a leave of absence, he/she cannot
exceed one semester. Students cannot exceed
a total of three semesters for a leave
of absence.
2. After the term of a leave of absence
expires, a student can register for re-enrollment.
For re-enrollment, the student has to
go through the administrative process
required by the Graduate School. The student
needs the approval of the dean of the
Graduate School in order to re-enroll.
3. Students may withdraw from school after
following the school¡¯s administrative
procedures.
4. The following students will be dismissed
from school:
(1) Students
who fail to register within
the registration period of
each semester.
(2) Students who fail to register
for re-enrollment after the
term of leave of absence expires.
(3) Students who fail to register
for re-enrollment within one
year (or two semesters) after
completion of their military
service. |

| EXTENSION LECTURES, FOREIGN STUDENTS, AND SCHOLARSHIPS |
|
|
1. Extension
Lectures
(1) As long
as they do not interfere with
regular courses, extension
lectures are offered to students
who want to acquire further
knowledge and skills related
to work, liberal arts education,
and research.
(2) The dean of the Graduate
School will decide on the
name, subject matter, time,
venue, and the number of students
related to extension lectures.
(3) Students who attend all
extension lectures will be
awarded a certificate of completion. |

2. Research Students
(1) Students
who are qualified for the
School¡¯s Master¡¯s degree program
and are interested in registering
for particular courses or
lectures offered by the Graduate
School, will be admitted as
research students once they
pass the admission process
and are approved by the dean
of the Graduate School
(2) The Research program is
limited to one year.

| 3. Students
who have an outstanding grade point average
at the time of admission, and students
who are enrolled in the Graduate School
with an outstanding grade point average,
will be awarded scholarships. |
|
|
|
1. Comprehensive
Examination
(1) Students
who have registered for at
least three semesters of graduate
course work with an overall
grade point average of 3.0
(B) or above, can apply for
the comprehensive examination.
(2) Students will be tested
on two subjects related to
their required majors; the
subject and content of the
examination will be determined
by the examination committee.
(3) Students will be given
100 minutes for each test
and the combined score must
be 60 or more.
(4) The comprehensive examination
is given each semester |

2. Thesis Evaluation and Awarding of Degrees
|
(1) Students,
who want to submit a ¡°Master¡¯s
Thesis Evaluation Request,¡±
must submit a thesis evaluation
fee, and a ¡°Thesis Submission
Approval Form¡± signed by their
thesis advisor. (2) Students
may submit their ¡°Master¡¯s
Thesis Evaluation Request¡±
either in May or October.
(3) The Thesis evaluation
and oral examination must
be completed within two months
of the date of submission
of ¡°Master¡¯s Thesis Evaluation
Request.¡±
(4) Evaluation Committee
a. The Evaluation Committee
is composed of three members,
including the advisor.
b. The thesis advisor will
head the Evaluation Committee
and oversee the entire evaluation
process.
(1) The Evaluation Committee
will first evaluate the content
and appropriateness of the
thesis. Second, students will
be given an oral examination
on the thesis.
(2) Decisions
a. The thesis and the oral
examination will be evaluated
with letter grades of A, B,
C, or F. The thesis will pass
if it receives a ¡®C¡¯ or above.
b. The thesis will only pass
if it receives a two-thirds
approval of the committee
members. |

| THE
COUNCIL OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOL
OF BIO-MEDICAL SCIENCE |
|
|
The Graduate
School has a Council of the Graduate School,
composed of seven or more members, composed
of the dean and of the professors of the
Graduate School. The dean of the Graduate
School will serve as head of the Council.
1. The term of the council members is
two years. In case a member is unable
to complete his/her term, his/her replacement
will serve on the council only until the
remaining period of the term.
2. Functions of the council:
(1) Matters
related to admission, completion
of course work, and awarding
of degrees.
(2) Matters related to introducing
and closing departments and
majors and the total number
of students enrolled.
(3) Matters related to introducing
and changing curriculum.
(4) Matters related to opening
and operation of extension
lectures.
(5) Matters related to introducing
and changing regulations on
curriculum, and awarding degrees
of the Graduate School.
(6) Other matters related
to the operation and management
of the Graduate School. |

3 . Meetings of the Council of the Graduate
School and Decisions
(1) Depending
on need, meetings will be
convened by the dean of the
Graduate School, who will
serve as the head of the meeting.
(2) If not specified otherwise,
meetings will be convened
if two-thirds of the members
attend. If more than two-thirds
of the members present at
the meeting approve, then
motions will be passed. |
