to have Korean studies recognized

Research Center - The Center of Asia |

KU's Asiatic Research Center,
the first university affiliated research
center in Korea, was established in 1957
to contribute to the mutual understanding
of humans and culture. The Center has
received worldwide recognition due to
its status as the first independent research
center to conduct research on Communism,
and as one of the top five Communism research
centers in the world. Recently by founding
the East Asian Digital Data Center, the
Center is providing information resources.
The center is gradually becoming the most
comprehensive research center on East
Asia through the implementation of a technologically
advanced research system. |

| Korean Culture Research Center? Globalization of Korean Studies |

The Korean Culture Research Center was established in 1957 as the nation's first comprehensive Korean Studies center. At present, the Center has four major divisions, seven affiliated research centers, and seven specialized research facilities. Moreover, the affiliated
International Korean Studies Center, established in 2003, is focusing on supporting research in Korean Studies research and on the construction of an international network of Korean Studies. To meet the demands of the informatization and globalization of Korean Studies,
the Center is developing a Korean Studies database and developing an electronic cultural map of the Chosun Dynasty, among other projects currently garnering worldwide recognition. |

| Institute for Nano Science?Leading the Nano Age |

The Institute for Nano Science was established to facilitate systematic group research in nano-science, a field that is receiving attention worldwide. The Institute has gained international recognition by publishing more then 200 articles in domestic and foreign academic journals
including journals in the Science Citation Index (SCI). At present, the Institute is focusing its efforts on a systematic examination of spin-related phenomena, and research in engineering applications such as the Cohesive Properties of Matter, the Development of Proton
Technology, the BK21 Project, and a nationally designated project dealing with Multi-Changing Magnetic Resonance Techniques needed for the Study of Complex Multi- Dimensional Properties of Matter.
