| The KIEP, Korea University International Education
Program, is a short term non-degree study
abroad program for international/expatriate
Korean students who wish to experience campus
life at Korea university and learn about
Korea first hand. Students can apply for an
academic semester or a year at Korea University
as full time students and carry a maximum
of 19 credits per semester. Foreign nationals
must enroll as full time KIEP students in
order to meet Korean immigration requirements.
There is no part-time KIEP student status.
This program is designed mainly for those
students who want to study at Korea University
as short-term-visiting students, and whose
home university does not have an exchange
relationship with Korea University.
Academic credits earned through the KIEP
program may be transferred in order to
satisfy degree requirements at institutions
in the U.S. and other countries. Credit
acceptability is always determined by
the receiving institution. A certified
transcript of academic performance will
be sent to each student¡¯s home institution
upon request. Academic credits earned
at Korea University are usually transferable
to and recognized by the home institution.
International students should be aware
of the conditions governing transfer of
credit.
To help international students study more
conveniently and learn about Korea, the
KIEP offers an intensive Korean language
course at 4 different levels (elementary,
beginning, intermediate, advanced). With
the International Korean Studies courses
taught in English, undergraduate courses
taught in English by other departments,
and the Graduate School of International
Studies English curriculum, KIEP students
have access to almost all the same courses
taught in Korean to Korean students.
The KIEP is an ideal program for international
students who wish to take a semester or
a year to study abroad and experience
the culture and society of a foreign country
while possibly satisfying degree requirements.
KIEP accepts non-exchange university students
to study at Korea University but students
must secure permission from their home
universities to attend Korea University
for this short-term-study-abroad opportunity.
