GLOBAL KU STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIPS For International Students
 
In celebration of its centennial in 2005, Korea University establishes Global KU Study Abroad Scholarships 2004.

Global KU Scholarships 2004 aims to support future global leaders around the world to study at Korea University.

Only undergraduate Exchange and Study Abroad students at Korea University, as non-
degree candidates, are eligible to apply for Global KU Scholarships 2004.
 
I. Global KU Study Abroad Scholarships includes:

1.Admission Scholarship: KRW300,000 per month for the first semester (4 months)
2.KU Travel Scholarship: designed to assist students meet basic travel costs, a one-off
payment of up to a maximum of U$1,000 according to distance and currency rate
3.Merit Scholarship: awarded on the basis of academic merit of the first semester,
KRW300,000 per month for a second semester (4 months). Only applicable to exchange/
study abroad students who participate in one-year program.

II. Conditions of Global KU Study Abroad Scholarships:

1.Admission and KU Travel Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit at
the applicants¡¯ home institutions.
2.Faculty/ Institution/ National quotas may apply.
3.Continuing students are automatically considered for Merit Scholarship. Students who
extend the duration of their study at Korea University from one semester to two semesters
are eligible to apply for ¡®Merit Scholarship¡¯ at the time of approval on extension.
4.Funding for the scholarships is subject to availability.

III. Eligibility

To be eligible, Exchange and Study Abroad students at Korea University, an undergraduate
applicant must:

1.be enrolled in an acknowledged institution outside of Korea, in a country that is
recognized by Korean government as of December 1, 2003.
2.have completed, or are about to complete at least one year of study at their home
universities at the time of applying
3.have an overall weighted average of at least 75% at their home institutions
4.have applied for one-year exchange or study abroad at Korea University
5.have a good command of either English or Korean; English in order to take courses
taught in English (10-30% of all courses) at Korea University, and Korean in order to take
regular Korea University courses taught in Korean
6.apply for only one of Admission and KU Travel Scholarships at the time of applying


IV. Required Documents

¡à Global KU Study Abroad Scholarships Application From (attached)
¡à Two passport size photos
¡à Original copy of an official academic transcript issued by Home institution
¡à Sealed recommendation form filled by a dean or a person of higher position at Home
institution with a signature of the Rector/ President of Home Institution (attached)
¡à Statement of purpose or Study plan at Korea University (no more than 500 words)
¡à Evidence of health/medical insurance for the staying period in Korea, authorised copy of
an insurance certificate will be accepted
¡à A photocopy of the applicant¡¯s passport
¡à Authorised copies of official language tests, such as TOEFL, ILETS, Korean Language
Proficiency Test etc.

V. Important Notice
1.All documents must be written in English. Please attach translations in English if the
documents are in any other languages.
2.Documents submitted with the application will not be returned to the applicant.
