You can use computers in your dormitory. There are big computer rooms in the Science Library, and the Central Library. You can also use computers in computer labs. Computer labs are in almost all college buildings. When you need to use a fax machine, you can always go to the Office of International Affairs. There are also shops that sends faxes, do photocopying, and print-out work for you for a fee. However, if you are sending a fax overseas, the charge in these places can be very expensive. Be sure to find out how much it costs before using this kind of service.
If you have an injury of illness, you had better go to a local clinic and see a general physician. It is not a good idea to go to a general hospital first since they are usually very crowded and you may have to wait a long time. Unless your injury of illness is serious, it is a waste of time and money to go to a big hospital when a local clinic is available to you. There are a couple of dispensaries you can go to on-campus in cash you are ill of need medical help. If you have a medical emergency, you can call 119 for an ambulance to get emergency card and to get to the hospital quickly. Korea University Hospital is located next to the main and the science campuses and offers emergency care. There are other hospitals available is Seoul.
It is desirable for you to open a bank account during your stay in Korea. You can open an account in any bank In Korea, however, the ones you will have easy access to are Hana Bank (on the main campus) and Kookmin Bank (on the science campus). You will be given a bankbook in which all of your account activity is printed and a cash card with which you can withdraw money from ATM machines. Unlike in some countries, check books and ATM cards ate not used when buying products, so you need to carry cash when shopping around unless you have credit cards. Wire transfer is the most common way of sending and receiving money from other countries. Your account number (listed on the bankbook) is very important when you wire transfer money or receive money. Hana Bank, as well as other banks, provide such services. For more information, you may inquire with the staff of the bank.
At the post office in the Communications Building on the main campus, you can send mail and packages. Incoming letters will be sent to your dormitory, but you will have to pick up big packages at the Office of International Affairs. Priority mail service as well as money transfers are also available. For express mail services EMS, DHL, UPS and others are available.
