The Central Library was built between 1974 and 1978 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the university. The beautiful stone structure covers 4,400-pyung with four stories and one floor underground. The library can hold up to 2,000 students and 2 million books. The Central Library also contains specialized libraries including the United Nations Depository Library, with over 320,000 volumes, journals and periodicals published by various U.N. organizations and the OECD, as well as the European Union Literature Center, which houses research materials published by the EC.

The original Central Library (now Graduate School Library) was built to honor the 30th anniversary of Bosung College in 1935, and completed in 1937. Koreans all over the world gave their active support and generous donations to build the library, which overlooks the entire Main Campus on the hill next to the Main Hall. Along with the Main Hall, Korean architect Kim Dong-Jin designed the impressive five-story high gothic stone structure, based on the design of Duke University¡¯s library. The building is now used as the Graduate School Library after a new library building was built to commemorate the university¡¯s 70th anniversary. The old library still stores over 40,000 books, including Seo Yu Kyun Moon and other books designated as national treasures. The former Central Library building (now Graduate School Library) is being preserved as Korea¡¯s historical monument No.286.
