The "shield" symbolizes Korea University¡¯s establishment spirit of ¡®saving the nation through education¡¯. It incorporates the belief of Sir Lee, Yong Ik which is to save the nation through fostering men of ability through education. The color ¡°crimson¡± symbolizes vigor and passion and therefore reflects Korea University¡¯s academic
tradition and disposition. The ¡°black lines¡± symbolizes the colleges that make up Korea University.

The tiger which is the symbol of both Korea and Korea University represents Korea University¡¯s courage, determination, agility and dignity, and the year ¡°1905¡±, the year of foundation, reflects the depth of tradition and studies.
