As one of Korea¡¯s most prestigious law schools, we
are committed to providing our students with a balanced curriculum
of studies. We do not teach law so that our students can pass an examination;
instead, we offer them a wide range of studies that are essential
to their careers and their society--such as social law, labor law,
international law, the philosophy of law, and comparative law. All
our faculty and students have a passion for law, and want to see it
used for the fullest benefit of society. |

Our most distinctive feature is our rapid growth. In addition, most of our departments were selected as BK21 project groups last year. This year, we were chosen for a dozen new mid- to large-sized research projects. They include state-designated research center projects, creative research promotion projects , a center for
innovation in engineering education and base college development
projects. We have also provided a model for cooperative industria-academic
research by creating the Korea Techno Complex, the first
such facility in the country. It has attracted industries and research
institutes from both home and abroad, ranging from promising venture
firms to large corporations. We are seizing the initiative in the
new age of engineering education through this fusion of industria-academic
collaboration and more traditional engineering studies |

Launched in 1972, the College of Education hosts 2,000
would-be-teachers in nine departments. It is a place in which top-tier
professors and their students can grow together through teaching
and learning. Our students can acquire expertise in two professional
areas by choosing from multiple, dual, and intensified majors. In addition,
we encourage the development of advanced educational and
research activities by collaborating with university institutes that are
linked with our departments. We also operate the Graduate School
of Education. |

We are engaged in a number of academic exchanges with
well-known nursing schools in North America and Northeast Asia
and offer our students a unique program that allows them to acquire
nursing licenses in Korea and the USA simultaneously. Our goal is to
train nurses who can contribute to the promotion of human health
and cope with rapid changes in health care and medical treatments.
To achieve these ends, we operate a research-based institute of
nursing and have formed collaborative relationships with renowned
scholars in the field, both in Korea and abroad. We also take great
pride in our network of more than 3,000 graduates, most of whom
are playing a pivotal role in the health care field. |

HOMEPAGE |
|
|
We emphasize the importance of basic courses in the belief
that "trends and education are different things" and that there can be
a disjunction between progressive movements in the art and design
field and the realities of everyday education. Based on this, we strive
to foster would-be-artists who will remain faithful to the basics. Some
of our efforts include increasing the number of subjects for video and
media art, sharing credits and course classification numbers with the
Korean National University of Arts, offering lectures on prominent art
administrators and curators, planning exhibitions for our graduates,
and developing support programs. Other projects include hiring
more high-quality faculty members and encouraging joint research
projects by establishing an art and design research institute. |

HOMEPAGE |
|
|
Our curricula enable students to acquire expertise in both primary
functions (including politics, economics, and the law) and primary
regions (including Asia and Europe). In addition, we are forming
partnerships with international organizations and companies, with a
focus on such issues as international trade and international development
cooperation. We also host lectures by such experts as former
high-ranking officials, experts in international organizations, and
diplomats. Another strong point is our custom-designed programs,
in which a major is chosen through consultations between students
and their professors, developing courses of study that match their
interests and future career goals.
First of all, we are forming educational and research networks
with a number of prestigious overseas universities. We also hope to
establish student exchanges and joint degree programs with a university
in Japan and another in China. This will allow our students to
become experts in East Asian affairs. Finally, we will increase opportunities
for global learning by networking with renowned universities
in the USA and Europe. |

Primarily divided into the divisions of languages and literatures,
sociology, Chinese studies, and creative writing, we also offer education
in practical studies. For example, the divisions of languages
and literatures and Chinese studies are heightening their value as a
practical discipline by adding politics and economics to their curricula.
For example, the divisions of languages and
literatures and Chinese studies are heightening their value as practical
areas of study by adding politics and economics to their curricula.
This has been done in the belief that language training should
include knowledge of the culture that created it. Meanwhile, the
Department of Creative Writing is endeavoring to better Korea’s position
in the world by adding to its knowledge of Korean society and
culture. This conflation of language training with closely-associated
sciences helps our students improve their capabilities in the practical
application of their studies after graduation. |

Our most important goal is to produce graduates who can
cope with the challenges and opportunities offered in this era of globalization.
To this end, we are concentrating our efforts on "reality-based"
teaching and the acquisition of advanced technologies. That
is why science and engineering are not separated here. We hope to
differentiate ourselves by carrying on inter-disciplinary research and
emphasizing the need for cooperation between the basic sciences
and applied engineering. This approach is integral to the development
of new technologies. |

We are situated in a multifunctional administrative city that has
always been the heartbeat of Korea. This means that we can easily
interact with many KU graduates who have advanced into public
offices and study and observe what they do in situ. This in turn provides
us with greater opportunities to advance into public offices ourselves.
In addition, we offer upgrading programs for public officials.
All of this allows us to contribute to raising the nation's administrative
capabilities on a firsthand basis. |
