| As an accredited member of the International Academic Exchange Committee
(IAEC), KU has been ffering a variety of international programs in
accordance with the increasing interest and need to learn about Korea from
the international education communities. |

For those who are interested in study abroad programs in Korea, KU has been offering its unique study
abroad opportunities through its student exchange programs with universities worldwide as well as
International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) member institutions. Every spring and fall semester,
students from exchange universities, ISEP institutions and non-partner universities may apply for study
abroad programs at KU to study for a semester or a year as non-degree students. If your institution does
not have an exchange agreement with KU nor has links with ISEP, you may apply to come to study at KU
as a visiting student. You may apply for a semester or a year at KU. Check with your home institution for
academic links with ISEP or to see if there is a reciprocal exchange partnership with KU for which you
might be eligible.
The exchange and visiting programs accept applications from students who wish to study at KU for
credit transfer purposes from all over the world.
There are two main study abroad programs available at KU, they are;
- Student Exchange Program (SEP)
- Visiting Student Program (VSP) |

KU has established extensive links with many
universities internationally through its student
exchange program, which was developed as part
of its internationalization process. This program
now sends over one thousand students and
receives 530 to and from countries in Asia-Pacific,
Europe, North and South America, to study for
one or two semesters annually.
The benefits of KU exchange students vary
according to the terms and conditions of the
exchange agreement KU has concluded with each
institution. Based on the principle of reciprocal
exchange of benefits, our standard exchange
agreements regulate student tuition fees waiver at
host universities: however, students are
responsible for room and board. Exchange
students are also responsible for their own travel,
medical insurance and other personal expenses.
In 1987, KU entered into an agreement for
student exchange with ISEP. It is a membership
organization of worldwide higher-education
institutions located in Washington, D.C.,
dedicated to fostering extensive and dynamic
exchange activities. Since 1987, KU has worked
closely with ISEP for the initiation of student
exchanges and sent its first students to study
abroad in 1988. During the past decade, we have
greatly enjoyed educating many students from
member institutions and having them learn about
Korea and its varied history, culture, traditions,
and society from the past to the present.
KU provides participants with the benefits of
housing and meals that the ISEP lays out in the
program description. Additionally, it offers the
special benefit of complimentary intensive Korean
language courses in the regular semesters and the
intersession. At our university on-campus housing
is prioritized for exchange students and university
facilities can be used in the same manner as all KU
registered students.
