Types
- Admission Scholarship: KRW300,000 per month for the first semester (4 months)
- KU Travel Scholarship: designed to assist students meet basic travel costs, a one-off payment of up to a maximum of U$1,000 according to distance and currency rate
- Merit Scholarship: awarded on the basis of academic merit of the first semester, KRW300,000 per month for a second semester (4 months), therefore applicable to exchange/ visiting students who participated in one year program only
Conditions
- Admission and KU Travel Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit at the applicants¡¯ home institutions.
- Faculty/ Institution/ National quotas may apply.
- Continuing students can be considered for Merit Scholarship on application. Students who extend the duration of their study at Korea University from one semester to two semesters are eligible to apply for ¡®Merit Scholarship¡¯ at the time of approval on extension.
- Funding for the scholarships is subject to availability.
Eligibility
To be eligible, undergraduate exchange and visiting student applicants at KU must:
- be enrolled in an acknowledged institution outside of Korea, in a country that is recognized by the Korean government as of December 1, 2007.
- have completed, or are about to complete at least one year of study at their home universities at the time of applying
- have an overall weighted average of at least 75% at their home institutions have a good command of either English or Korean; English in order to take courses taught in English (over 35% of all courses) at KU, and Korean in order to take regular KU courses taught in Korean
- apply for only one of Admission or KU Travel Scholarships at the time of applying
Required documents
- Global KU Study Abroad Scholarships Application form (attached)
- Two passport - sized photographs
- Original copy of an official academic transcript issued by home institution
- Statement of purpose or Study plan at KU (no more than 500 words)
- Evidence of health/medical insurance for the staying period in Korea, authorized copy of an insurance certificate will be accepted
- A photocopy of the applicant¡¯s passport
- Authorized copies of official language tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS, Korean Language Proficiency Test etc.
Important notice
- All documents must be written in English. Please attach translations in English if the documents are in any other languages.
- Documents submitted with the application will not be returned to the applicant. |
