Korea University Athletes Shine on Olympic Ice

In February 2026, the 25th Olympic Winter Games were staged in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Racing across the ice before a global audience were Kim Gil-li and Shin Dong-min Shin of Korea University’s School of Global Sport Studies. Their brilliant performances placed the names of both Korea and Korea University firmly on the world stage.
Kim Gil-li delivered one of the standout performances of the Games, winning gold medals in the women’s 3,000m relay and 1,500m, as well as a bronze medal in the 1,000m. Shin Dong-min also established himself as a key member of the team by winning silver in the men’s 5,000m relay. Their achievements became a proud chapter in history not only for the Korea University community, but for people across Korea.
What makes the two athletes even more remarkable is that, despite their demanding training and national team schedules, they continue to pursue their academic journeys as Korea University students. In March, Korea University appointed them as official ambassadors. May the names they made shine on the ice continue to resonate across campus and beyond for years to come.
