Korea University Named an “Excellent IEQAS-Certified University” in 2025

- Marks 14 consecutive years of certification with strong performance across all evaluation areas of international education management

Korea University (President Dong-One Kim) has been designated an “Excellent IEQAS-certified university,” the highest rating in the 2025 International Education Quality Assurance System (IEQAS), according to results announced by the Ministry of Education on February 12.

The IEQAS is a government program that comprehensively evaluates universities’ capacity to recruit and manage international students. In the 2025 assessment, 181 universities nationwide received IEQAS certification for their degree programs, with 39 institutions designated as Excellent IEQAS-certified universities.

Since the program’s launch in 2012, Korea University has maintained IEQAS certification for 14 consecutive years. This year in particular, the university received strong evaluations across all nine assessment indicators, reaffirming the stability and quality of its international education management system.

Korea University operates a comprehensive support system for international students led by the Office of International Affairs, with dedicated units including the International Mobility & Cooperation Team, the International Education Team, and the Global Services Center. These units provide integrated support covering academic and student life, counseling, career development, and employment. The university also maintains a systematic international education framework in close collaboration with departments responsible for planning, budgeting, evaluation, finance, student support, and digital strategy.

Following the International Campus Declaration in September 2024, Korea University established 41 international education metrics and has been systematically implementing them. Current initiatives include expanded employment support for international students, cultural exchange programs, quality monitoring of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) courses, the introduction of AI-powered real-time interpretation and translation systems, and multilingual counseling services.

Korea University said, “We aim to move beyond simply increasing international student enrollment and build a sustainable model of internationalization by strengthening our management and support systems.”
